Skinfood Mud Masque ♨ Review + Demo

Lucky promoting the Skinfood Mud Masque!
Skinfood Mud Masque

I have finally jumped on the bandwagon and try out the Skinfood Mud Masque that everyone has been talking about! I started using this mud masque in early January and I want to make sure that I have try it and experience it enough times to give a proper review.

I don't know about you, but when it comes to face masks, I have to use each of them several times to see a difference it makes. The first time I tried out the Skinfood Mud Masque, it didn't do anything and I didn't feel it tingles and/or stints my eyes like everyone claims it does; and after several use of the products, I start to experience the things people claims they had experienced and also I started to see results on my face.

Anyway, before I talk about the product description, what it does and how it works; I want to introduce you to the brand first. Skinfood is a New Zealand skin care brand that offers a range of products from face and body care to lips and hands care, their products are all made with natural ingredients and they claim to have create a range of nutritious products for your skin that will have you feeling nourished, cleansed and revitalized.

Please note: there is another brand called Skin Food, it is based in Korea and they also sell natural cosmetics and skin care products. I am also a fan of Skin Food Korea, but it is a totally different brand to the one I am reviewing today.

I know a few New Zealanders reads my blog, but a majority of you girls (and boys) are from all around the world; you may have heard Rotorua is famous for its natural, hot mud pools etc... but if you didn't study geography or tourism at school, you would probably be clueless.

So, here is a little tourism lesson from Wikipedia: Rotorua is a city on the North Island of New Zealand, it is a major destination for both international and domestic tourists (must visit if you ever come to NZ! It's such a beautiful place!). Rotorua is known for its natural spas, geothermal water, hot mud pools, erupting geysers and... Oh oh Māori Culture is also another fun thing to experience in the area.

Skinfood Mud Masque is rich in natural minerals found in the volcanic muds of NZ, it is made with natural rich Rotorua mud with aloe vera and jojoba oil. This mud masque work as a deep cleanser to soften and relax the skin, it is made in New Zealand and paraben free. Skinfood claims the effect of using the product is visible, such as smaller pores and softer skin just after one use.

How to use: After cleansing, apply a thick even layer all over the face. Leave for 5 - 10 minutes until dry and then wipe off with a warm, damp cloth. Use only once a week.

Skinfood Mud Masque

Skinfood Mud Masque comes packaged in a 100ml tube, the color of its packaging is pure white and it features their green logo. The description and the directions are printed in a bright green and grey color. From the packaging you can already tell this company really focus on their natural theme and the simple packaging gives me that refreshing feel.

The color of the mud masque is grey, the same grey as Rotorua muds and the texture is thick. I have always avoid facial masks that does not come in a sheet form, because a lot of them takes a long time to dry and I am just not patient enough to sit around and wait for the damn thing to set haha.

Ever since I jumped on the Skinfood Mud Masque bandwagon, I went from not liking non-sheet-masks to absolutely loving them! The Skinfood Mud Masque dries within 10 minutes and after washing off with a warm damp cloth it left my skin feeling very soft especially around my nose area, I have big visible pores on my nose and my cheek, after using this mud masque I have seen impressive results of smaller pores.

If I use the mud masque more than once a week, it does dry out my skin and crackiness does appears when I apply my foundation. I didn't know that this is suppose to be a once a week kind of thing as there weren't any information on the Skinfood website, I have now use it more gently, once a week and my skin has gone back to normal and it is looking better. I could go to work without makeup at all, not even primers and I would still feel as comfortable as I have makeup on.

Below is a picture of the before and after result I took after my first use, as you can see my skin in my after result seems to clear a little compare to my before picture, my skin doesn't look as dull and large pores on my nose seems a little smaller. It looks like the mud has done a great job, it draws out a lot of oils in my skin and I wish I could show you all how smooth my skin feels and how clean it looks in person!

After the use of Skinfood Mud Masque

Overall, this is a great mud mask to try especially for those oily skin gals, the products does suck out all the oils from your skin and turn your face into a baby smooth face! Don't expect your pores to be fully closed or disappear, from my experience with the Skinfood Mud Masque, the product has done a good job minimizing my large pores and making my skin looks brighter.

I love the smell of this mud masque, can't exactly describe the scent; but it smells fresh and very acceptable. My first time using the product it didn't tingles my face nor made my eyes watery and after a couple of uses later, it starts to stints and made my eyes watery and it tingles a little. This may be different for everyone and it is normal if you're experiencing the watery eyes.

The Skinfood Mud Masque only comes in one size and that is the 100ml tube, I think they also offers foil packs samples, but you can't buy them, you can only try those samples ones when they gift it to you. Not a lot of product is needed for each use, I have been using this same tube for every single week and I have been using it for months now, I feel like there's still plenty of products left in the tube!

  2. Oh this sounds and looks AMAZEBALLS! I found my holy grail liquid clay mask recently through memebox (before they ended international shipping!!) by the brand of tosowoong. The mask also has dark spots appear when drying on areas where oil was being absorbed and I love a good super tight sensation and tightened pores makes us happy any day! I totally plan to try more liquid clay masks...they are such a skin reviver!
